Scientists are always learning more about dinosaurs–and revising what we know about them—as they study the fossils they find all over the world.
- Many of the largest dinosaurs, such as Apatosaurus, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus, were herbivores–they ate only plants.
- Meat-eating dinosaurs (carnivores) included large dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus Rex and Allosaurus as well as one of the smallest dinosaurs, Compsognathus.
- Pterosaurs (such as Pterodactyls) weren’t dinosaurs. They lived at the same time but were actually flying lizards.
- Several dinosaurs had feathers and may have been the earliest birds.
